Arminius C. Young Jr. (Duke) 71, was born on October 2, 1949, in Long Branch, NJ. He was the son of Louise and Arminius C. Young Sr. He was the second oldest of 6 children. Arminius passed away on Monday July 5, 2021.
Arminius grew up in Long Branch, NJ and attended the Long Branch Public School System. In 1969, he graduated from Long Branch High School.
Arminius worked as a Human Services Technician for the State of New Jersey at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital and Hagedorn Psychiatric Hospital, retiring in 2002. Upon retiring he worked for ShopRite in Neptune and West Long Branch, NJ.
Arminius was an active member of the Long Branch and Asbury Park community. His love of sports, singing and dancing will be missed by many. He was a coach for years in the Long Branch community. He loved to teach the young youth the techniques of basketball and football. He spent years coaching and training his sons. He was a great father who never left his kids aside. Charles enjoyed spending time with his mother and siblings. He always preached that family came before anything.
Arminius was preceded in death by his father, Arminius C. Young Sr. He leaves behind his mother, Louise Young; his brothers John Stanton, Robert, Paul, Ronald and his sister, Lauren; his sister-in-laws Florine, Elsa, Joyce and Suzanne. Arminius will be lovingly remembered by his children and daughter-in-laws: Stephen Allen, Yudelkys Allen, Arminius C. Young III, Gennifer M. Young, Jason C. Young, Janelle B. Annese-Young, Erick T. Young, Jennifer Young, Jordan M. Young, Marisa R. Young, Danika L. Brandt, Charlene A. Batzel, Caitlyn Tamayo, Gregory V. Batzel, Moniloto L. Rosado, Wendy L. Rosado; 24 grandchildren: Stephen, Shemar, Yuliana, Eliel, Jesus, Selena, Arminius IV, Xavier (deceased), Iziah, Dajour, Alijah, Rylee, Lavinia, Amara, Marques, Tyler J., Tyra, Tatiana, Tessa, Erick Jr. (deceased), Julian C., Jayden C., Nina Jo, Tyler R., and Joi; 3 great-grandchildren Melakai, Kane, Jordyn R., and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family and friends.
With heartfelt condolences to the Young family. Charles was always a pleasure to have around. I remember him well from LBHS.
