Beatrice Coleman was born October 16, 1929 in Orange, NJ to the late John Roberts Sr. and Ella Rose Della Roberts. Beatrice was born and raised in Orange, NJ and graduated from Orange High School in 1949.  She was the only girl in the family and had 3 loving brothers who are awaiting her arrival the late John, Allen and Williams Roberts.

A widow she married the late Emmett J. Coleman Jr. in 1953.  Beatrice started her nearly 50 year career with the Long Branch Board of Education volunteering with the PTA at the Gregory Elementary School in 1964 where her children also attended.  She was later chosen by her peers as PTA President of the Garfield School and the West End School.  She became President of the community counsel of the PTO/PTA  and also served as executive board member representing 9 schools in the Long Branch district.  At the same time, she assisted teachers with projects and was a cafeteria aid.  She later transferred to the Middle School and became President of STPO.  She also held other positions such as library clerk, library assistant and many other positions.  She was THE JACK OF ALL TRADES! She ended her 49 year career retiring for the second and last time in 2013.

Beatrice received innumerable awards and accolades in recognition for her community service, hard work and dedication to Long Branch and families who needed a champion. 

Bea has 7 children who will cherish her life and legacy of love Beverly, Emmett III, Howard, Carol, Gary, Rosella and Kim; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; her brother-in-law Alfred Coleman; sister-in-law Dinky Roberts and many nieces, nephews, relatives and wonderful friends.
