SERVICE DETAILS
Charles Neriah Richardson affectionately known as "Chuck," was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on March 2, 1920 to the late Octavia and Neriah Richardson. He was the eldest of 8 children. Charles was a track hurdler and won several awards in track and field. He also won a scholarship to Virginia State College for Negroes but was unable to attend because of family responsibilities. He later met and married Ruthie Mae Richardson on August 2, 1952.
Charles was a lifelong resident of Perth Amboy. He was employed by Ford Motor Company of Edison for 30 years, ending his career as an inspector in 1978. Charles was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church. He also was a member of the Vocalizers and Five R's singing groups. In addition, he was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Anguilla.
Charles will be remembered for his bright smile, love of singing, dancing and his passion for designing and building.
Preceding Charles in death are his parents Octavia and Neriah Richardson, three brothers Ernest, James and Norman Richardson and three sisters Bertha Richardson, Eudora Clark, Wilhelmina Crute and Phyllis Hayles.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Ruthie Mae Richardson, his son Faruq and his wife Kristin Faruq, daughters Sheila Renee and her husband Edwin Paul Davis, Tabatha Arnita and her husband John Travis Herbert III; dear sister Cassandra Vlaun; adored grandfather of Kwame, Aren and Keanan Faruq, Isaiah Matthew Davis, Elijah Paul Davis and Naomi Priya Arnita Herbert and great-grandchidren Idris, Amira, Espen, Henning and Pia Faruq; cherished uncle of many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
