Elnora Shelton, 92, of Asbury Park, NJ peacefully passed away at home into God's loving arms, on Thursday, January 19, 2017.  Elnora was born March 17, 1924 in Sebring, Florida to Anne Mae Gaines and Willie Smith.  Elnora was educated in the Highland County School District, located in Sebring, Florida.  In 1948, Elnora moved to Asbury Park to work in the hotel industry until 1960 and later as a seamstress at Branch Fashion until retiring in 1978. 

Elnora dedicated her life to serving her community.  Elnora served as a Commissioner for the City of Asbury Park Housing Authority from April 1995 to April 2000.  Elnora faithfully served as a member adherent of The Salvation Army.  Elnora's generous nature was known in the community as she always provided a helping hand, food and a smile.  Elnora was a strong, loving and generous soul.

Elnora's deepest passion and greatest source of pride was to be surrounded by family.  Elnora was a proud wife of her predeceased husband, Eugene Shelton.  She was also predeceased by her daughter Veronica Jane Smith and granddaughter, Carla Smith.  During her last three years, she was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter Fatima and her great grandchildren, Devin Smith, Nasiyr Brown, Qiyahra Brown, Justin Fosque and Sarah Perry.  

Elnora leaves behind her son, Earl Calvin Smith, daughter Robin Tucker and Goddaughter Carol Cagle; grandchildren Daryl Reed, Shaun Johnson, Fatima Smith, Timothy Fosque and Myron and Kimberly Smith.  Elnora leaves behind a legacy of 16 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends to cherish her memories.
