George Donald Kemp Sr. 90, of Keyport, NJ passed away quietly at his home on February 5th, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born to parents Matthew and Nettie (Redd) Kemp in Bayonne, NJ June 23, 1930.  George was educated in the Bayonne School System.  Catholicism was his practiced faith and he attended the church of the Assumption for many years when he was a resident of Bayonne.

On May 24, 1951 George married the love of his life, Dolores (Finley) Kemp (deceased).  This union produced nine children of which George loved and supported with vigor.  Nothing was more important to him, so he worked two jobs most of his life to provide for their care.  He started his working career in the garment district of New York City, but eventually found employment closer to home in the garment cleaning industry.  Additionally, George worked for General Cable in Bayonne, NJ and finished his working career as a Sanitation Engineer for waste mgmt. in Jersey City, NJ where he finally retired in 2004.  In his early life, George was a recognized amateur boxer, representing the P.A.L. in Bayonne, NJ.  He was a member of the Untouchables Motorcycle Club and loved the comfort of smoking a good cigar.  George was also an aficionado of beautiful cars of which he had several.  He was affectionately known as "Redd" and it seemed like he always had a red car to clean, polish and shine.

George was predeceased by his beloved wife Dolores (Finley) Kemp, three sons George Donald Kemp Jr., Vernon Kemp an Brian Kemp, one daughter Sheila (Kemp) Hutchinson, two brothers Matthew Kemp and John Kemp and one sister Jean (Kemp) Preston.

Left to mourn his passing are his children Yvonne Gatling (Murry), Douglas Kemp (Denyse), Kim (Kemp) Figueroa, Larry Kemp (Wanda) and John Kemp (Mayra); special granddaughter Miesha (Kemp) Jelks; son-in-law Claude Hutchinson, special daughter Donna Yetmen; 27 grandchildren, four sister-in-laws Janet Wilson, Emma Yelverton, Jacqueline Waller and Gwendolyn Alexander and one brother-in-law Melvin Finley; special cousin Geraldine Kee and dear friend and cousin William (Billy) Johnson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances.
