Kelvin Gerard Tyler, a devoted Jehovah’s Witness, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the age of 64. He was born on December 31, 1960, to the late Annie Doris and Rudolph Tyler at the Raleigh Fitkin-Paul Morgan Memorial Hospital in Neptune, NJ.

From an early age, Kelvin displayed exceptional talents both academically and athletically. He excelled in baseball throughout his childhood and into high school, earning accolades that showcased his competitive spirit and determination. Music was another profound passion; his family fondly remembers his remarkable perfect pitch voice, evident even in his early years. His love for music led him to play the piano, and he received a scholarship to Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, where he studied piano. Jazz remained his passion throughout high school, and his college studies deepened his appreciation for diverse musical genres.

Kelvin dedicated 30 years of service to the United States Postal Service, retiring from the Red Bank, NJ branch. It was at the post office that he met his wife, Cindy. He also served as Labor Representative Shop Steward for American Postal Workers Union Local 986 until his retirement. Throughout his career, he was admired for his dedication and earned the respect of both his colleagues and the community.

Kelvin had an infectious laugh and a quick wit that could light up any room. His sense of humor brought joy and comfort to those around him. He cherished his family deeply and took immense pride in each of his grandchildren—his face would radiate joy whenever he spoke of them. He also had a deep love for animals and cherished his dogs, who remained his loyal companions until the very end.

Kelvin leaves behind a deeply saddened circle of family and friends who will forever hold his memory dear.

He is preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Tyler; mother, Annie Doris Tyler; and his beloved aunt and uncle, Vera and Donald Tyler.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia; his children, Rita Tyler, Ashley Tyler, Alyce Tyler, Kelvin Tyler, Jr. (KT), Lisa Seals, and Alexis Victoria Tyler; his stepchildren, Jesenia Rivera, Anibal (Nick) Rivera (Janet), and Jonathan Rivera; and his adored grandchildren, Elijah, Jaiden, Anthony, Joniyah, Tyler, Aaliyah, Noah, Olivia, Noelle, Calysta, Kadin, Samantha, Makayla, and Addison.

Additionally, Kelvin is survived by his brothers, Rudolph Craig Tyler, Karl M. Tyler (Tanya), and Eric D. Tyler; his sisters, Charilyndra McIntosh and Cheryl Salley (Charles F.); and his loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends who were touched by his spirit.
