A reception will follow at the IAMA on West End Ave.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Melanie's life.

Melanie Festejo passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 26, 2018 in Long Branch, NJ at the age of 54.  Melanie was born on June 2, 1963 in Long Branch, NJ to Frank Festejo and Barbara Jean West.  She graduated from Long Branch High School in 1981.  Melanie worked at Super Foodtown in Red Bank until 2012.  She also worked as a massage therapist and most recently, what brought her the most joy was a caregiver.  If you were lucky enough to be cared for by Mel, you were blessed because you got to feel her endless love everyday.  She touched so many lives with her bright, cheery demeanor.

Melanie enjoyed camping, sporting events, rafting and anything that involved being around her loved ones.  She was a selfless, generous individual who loved everyone and only saw the good in people.  You could always count on her to brighten your day with her loving, warm smile.  She had a love for her family and friends that is unwavering.  Melanie could often be found taking her nephews and nieces on new adventures.  She was there for every football game and every wrestling match and she was always the one cheering the loudest.

She is preceded in death by her doting mother Barbara Mendoza and cherished brother Charles Palumbo.

Melanie is survived by her adoring father Frank Festejo of Long Branch, her loving stepfather Pedro Mendoza of Long Branch, her brother Scott Festejo Sr. of Myrtle Beach, her sister Fran Correa of Tinton Falls and her sister Kim Festejo of Long Branch.  She also is survived by many nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as Aunt Mel: Frank Kavanagh Sr., John Jasio, Scott Festejo II, Ryan Festejo, Vincent Mota, Joseph Jasio, Michael Moto, Amanda Kavanagh, Katie Kavanagh, Frank Kavanagh Jr. and Scott Festejo III.  She has too many friends to mention, but they all held a special place in her heart.
