OBITUARY
SERVICE DETAILS
Stanley Albert Hawkins, fondly known as “Peanut” went home to be with the Lord on June 22, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to the late Lawrence Edward Hawkins and the late Lucy Louise Harris.
He and his cousin James Vanderbilt Hawkins Jr. were raised by their grandmother Carrie Hawkins. He loved horses and joined the Payson Park Backstretch family in 1985. Over the years he worked with many trainers as a Hot Walker, assisted the feed store with deliveries and oversaw daily kitchen operations.
His infectious laughter and direct delivery kept those around him “on task” always with a warm smile on his face. Peanut’s slow moving bike rides on the lane will forever be missed and remembered. He’s in heaven now winning “big” at the races.
He leaves behind a host of loved ones to cherish his memory: his uncles Clarence Andrew Hawkins, and Frank Robert Hawkins; Aunt Mary Elizabeth Tanner; life partner Terrane A. Johnson; siblings Lester Clay, Diane Harris Moore, Vincent Harris, Anthony Harris, and Brenda Harris; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
