Wallace William Shaw Sr. was born on December 11,1939, in Long Branch, NJ. He was one of twelve children born to Juanita Bennet-Mills. Wallace was a lifelong resident of Long Branch, NJ where he attended Long Branch school district.
Wallace’s life was to make people smile and laugh every time you were in his presence. He worked for the city of Long Branch all his life. He was a bartender throughout Long Branch and coached Pop Warner Football. He always supported his family throughout his life whether it was academically, or with sports, or music. He wore many hats as being a man, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a friend, and a confidant, as well as being a member of the United Brothers Social Group. In this brotherhood, Wallace helped with community service and made lifelong brothers and friends. Known widely through Long Branch as “Mr. Wallace,” he will be remembered for his wit, his humor, and love of football. Wallace Sr. had a tremendous love for his family, his friends, and for sports.
Sunday, February 16, 2025, Wallace departed this life at Monmouth Medical Center after giving life his all.
Wallace is preceded in death by his mother Juanita Bennet-Mills, his sisters Catherine Jones, Ernestine Donald, brothers Sam Mills Jr. and Ernest Bennet, and sisters Dorothy Bennet and Caroline Bennett.
Wallace leaves to cherish his memory , love and in his legacy his loving wife of 55 years Mary Shaw of Long Branch, NJ; his sons Wallace W. Shaw Jr. (Blanche) of West Orange, Jayson Shaw of Long Branch, and Reggie Padilla of Long Branch; six grandchildren Sherae Andrews of Florida, Asia Shaw-Williams (Pamela) of Linden, Kemani Goldsmith and Isaiah Goldsmith of West Orange, Azariah Fields-Shaw of Bloomfield, and Aaron Shaw of West Orange; his siblings Lillian Finely of Cliffwood, NJ, Micheline Daniels (Clifford) of Neptune, NJ, Raymond Bennett of Asbury Park, NJ, Leon Mills of Ocean, NJ and Jeananne Mills of New Orleans. Wallace also leaves to cherish his memories, his love, and his legacy a host of great-grand kids, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends that love him dearly.
Even though we loved Wallace Sr., and our hearts are filled with sorrow, we know that God loved him best. Rest well Wallace Sr. we will see you in the morning.
