David Edoris Head was born in Newark, NJ on September 2, 1954, to the late Edoris and Louise Head. On Saturday, February 7, 2026, David peacefully entered eternal rest in Conyers, GA, answering the call of his heavenly father.

From an early age David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Newark, NJ, where his spiritual foundation was established as a child. He attended the Newark Public School System and graduated from high school in 1972. After graduation, David honorably served his country by enlisting in the United States Marines Corp in 1975 following six years of dedicated service, he was honorably discharged in 1981.

In 1977, God blessed David with the love of his life, Marie Vaughn, and together they shared 48 beautiful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with two children Tyrie and Takiyah, and one bonus child Rakishia, whom David loved dearly.

David was a faithful and loving husband, a devoted father, and a cherished brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He worked diligently though out his life to provide for his family and retired from New Jersey Natural Gas Company; those who knew him were blessed by his kind heart, generous spirit, and warm/sarcastic sense of humor. David's presence brought joy-whether through his famous fried fish, trash talking spades games, or his quiet strength and faith in God.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife Marie Head and three children Tyrie Head, Takiyah Head, and Rakíshia Vaughn; his seven grandchildren Deziyah Palmer, Destini Palmer, Dynasty Loveday, Asiana Head, Kevin Loveday Jr., Zy'ier Harper, and Autymn Head; his sister Eydth Stroud and nephew Corey Stroud; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Though he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that David has received his heavenly reward and now rests in the loving arms of God.
