Dolores Louise (Johnson) Gaskins, 77 of Eatontown passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2025.  Affectionately known to family and friends as Dee, and as ‘Goris’ by her brother Charlie, she was born on March 31,1948 in Long Branch, NJ.

The daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Williams) Johnson, Dolores spent her childhood on Maxwell Road in Eatontown, NJ; where she, her two brothers Charlie and the late Stanley and a close band of cousins enjoyed growing up together.

Dolores graduated from Monmouth Regional High School in Tinton Falls in 1967 and pursued a nursing degree at Brookdale College in Lincroft.  She was always a nurturer, loving and caring for her family and her many animals over the years.  She had rabbits, guinea pigs, multiple dogs and fed the stray cats in the backyard.  She enjoyed being outdoors as a result she had many careers that took her outside.  She joined the family trucking business and drove an end dump truck for George Harms & Associates.  However, Dolores was best known for driving a school bus, she worked for Monmouth Regional High School, Seman Tov of Long Branch and retired from Gateway Day Treatment Center in Ocean Township.

Dolores had two children with her late ex-husband Moses Gaskins; a daughter Charlene Miles and late Moses Jr.  One of her biggest joys was helping to raise her grandchildren; Anthony, Chyna, KJ and Xavier.  In her younger days she enjoyed bowling, bopping around the flea market at Collingswood or Englishtown.  On a sunny Saturday, she could be found at Monmouth Park enjoying the horse races or down in Atlantic City playing the one arm bandits.

Although the only daughter in the Johnson family she had many close girlfriends she lovingly called sisters, Sheila, Sharon, Rita, Ida, Phyllis, Terri, Ella, Sue and the late Patsy.

She was predeceased by her father Charles, mother Mary, brother Stanley, ex-husband Moses and son Moses Jr.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Charlene and husband Keith Miles, brother Charles and wife Roberta, grandchildren Michael Douglas, Anthony and wife Yvette Gaskins, KJ and Xavier Miles, Noelle Parker, Chyna Gaskins and her great granddaughter, Nora Gaskins.  She also leaves behind many close cousins, nieces, nephews, lifetime friends and her special friend, Gary Hubbard.

Thank you for being the Grandest protection. Being so down to earth. And always listening to everything. And most importantly making the tough situations joyful! May your joy eternally be shared! I am sure I speak for so many folks, and that is the gift you shared, be joyful, be loyal, and take care of anybody close to you in any given moment! Love Ya, Mike

  2. Vanessa says:

Dolores touched so many peoples heart. Dolores and my mother Lady bug had a special connection. Anytime my brother needed to get away from the house for a little while he would go to her house and she would make sure he was ok. And vise versa with Moe she would send him to my mom’s house and she made sure they had everything they needed. And she would stop bye and check on them. Dolores had a special heart. She loved on everybody. Rest Easy Dolores you will be missed. Love you always. Vanessa & Teddy West.
