Mary Frances Lowd, 82, affectionately known as Frances by friends and family, departed this life on July 8, 2026 after residing in Freehold Township for 52 years. She was born in Chuckatuck (now Suffolk), Virginia to Ruth and Jefferson Davis, Sr. on December 21, 1943. A graduate of East Suffolk High School, Class of 1964, she was the middle child of 16. Growing up, Frances loved reading, sewing, and all types of word puzzles, which continued into adulthood. Upon graduating from high school, she decided to head north in pursuit of professional opportunities that would be afforded to her outside of her hometown. Shortly after settling in New Jersey, she met Raleigh Lowd, who also had moved north for his career. He would eventually become her husband and the love of her life. From this union, one child, Desiree, was born. Motherhood brought Frances tremendous joy, and she enthusiastically prioritized the loving care and happiness of her family as a supportive wife and mother. Her wisdom and peaceful presence will be greatly missed.

Frances was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Jefferson Davis, Sr., three brothers – Alton Jordan, James Arthur Davis Sr., Jefferson Davis Jr.; four sisters – Angela Cynthia Davis, Elsie Mae Hite, Margaret Greta Jones, Roxie Lee Davis-Godwin, and Ruth DeLois Strong.

Left to mourn her sudden passing are her loving husband of 52 blissful years, Raleigh, their daughter Desiree, four brothers – Bernard Eugene Davis (Yolanda), Detroit Michigan; Rosevelt Davis (Ernestine), Suffolk, Virginia; Rudolf Davis (Venita), Suffolk, Virginia; William Henry Davis, Charlotte, North Carolina; three sisters – Daisy Byrum, Suffolk, Virginia; Paula Nadine Johnson, Suffolk, Virginia; and Caroline Yvonne Davis, Suffolk, Virginia.

She will forever be in our hearts.
