Samuel Nelson, 84, of Middletown, NJ passed away on Thursday July 31, 2025.
Born in Hancock County (Sparta) Ga, to Matthew Nelson and Annie Hunt (Simelton), where he was the oldest of 3 children, (sisters Lillie and Deborah Simelton). He went on to serve in the Airforce, where he was honorably discharged in 1967. Shortly thereafter, he married Marie Nelson in Philadelphia, PA. The couple moved to Middletown, NJ, to raise their 2 boys, Darryl and Scott. The couple stayed married until Marie's passing in 2021.
Professionally, Samuel became an Air Traffic Controller at Newark International Airport. He was also a Mason, attending the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of NJ.
He is survived by his middle sister, Lillie, and his sons Darryl and Scott.
To Darryl and Scott I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. May the Lord keep you in this difficult time. He was a great man and I’m proud to have known him. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. God Bless you
