Douglas M. King, aka Fresh, was born October 13, 1950, in W. Palm Beach, Florida to the late Mae Ethel Lincoln and Walter C. King Sr.
He enlisted into the U.S. Army where he earned the rank of E-7 and after multiple reenlistments retired with an Honorable Discharge and moved to the Neptune and Asbury Park, NJ area.
He will be painfully missed by a large community of loving friends and family.
He is preceded by his parents, Walter C. and Mae Ethel King; and siblings Patricia M. King and Willie L. McGriff.
He is survived by wife Marsha and one daughter Danielle and six siblings, sisters Betty Pinkston, Janet McGriff, and LaWanda McGriff; brothers Walter King Jr., James McGriff, and Michael McGriff. He was the third child of his mother's nine children.
A very much-loved uncle to an army of nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be remembered by the world because of his always affectious and sincere smile, one that he showed even in his passing. He was quietly called Home Aug. 27, 2025.
Celebration and remembrance of his life will be held at his home with family and close friends from 1pm-4pm on Saturday, Sept. 6th, 2025. The viewing will be held at Lawson Funeral Home in Long Branch, NJ at 6pm.
