Clifford James Daniels known as “Work” to his school friends and as “Tiny” to his work friends was born on May 21, 1948 to the late Gladys Sharp Daniels and Lester James Daniels in Long Branch, New Jersey. Clifford was a lifelong resident of Monmouth County living mainly in Neptune but always bragging of being a Long Branch boy from Belmont Avenue. Clifford was educated in the Long Branch school system. He attended Brookdale Community College and furthered his education through many other educational sources to hone his craft.

Clifford became a Corrections Officer at Monmouth County Correctional Institution in 1970. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1971 and from that point he obtained the rank of Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Warden and then Warden. In 2000 he received national recognition as Correctional Administrator of the year. In 2002 Clifford was promoted to Executive Under Sheriff. Clifford retired in 2009 after 39 years of service.

Clifford accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young man through Pastor CP Williams. Clifford was a member of Shore Christian Center in Wall Township for many years.

On October 27th, 2025 Clifford departed this earth to be with the Lord. He was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and Lester Daniels, his sister Naomi “Connie” Daniels, a Niece Kimberly Batts, and one great nephew DeShon Johnson.

Clifford leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mitchaleen Daniels; his son James Scott Daniels; one niece Deborah Simpson; seven great nephews Tyree, Ramir, Zharue, D’ Marieh, Donnell, Deandre, and Divante; three great nieces, Shaniqua, Shaquira and Shatira; as well as many other relatives and a lifetime of good friends. Special appreciation to our hardworking nieces, Deborah and Amanda Fitzpatrick.
