Don Wilkerson, 72, of Long Branch, passed away on February 9, 2026. Born on November 5, 1953, in Deep Water, West Virginia. Don was the beloved son of the late Elijah Sr. and Doris Wilkerson.

Don was a proud high school graduate who dedicated many years of hard work as a coal miner before continuing his skills in carpentry and plumbing. A man who understood the value of honest labor, he carried that same strength and dependability into every area of his life.

He was known for being a very cool dude who loved to party and enjoy life on his own terms. Don had a passion for hunting and fishing, and you could often find him watching his favorite shows, Law & Order and Bonanza. He enjoyed his Brandy and beer, good company, and lively conversations. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends.

A devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Don always held onto hope that he would see them reach the Super Bowl again. His loyalty to his team matched the loyalty he showed to those he loved.

Don had a special gift for connecting with people. He was a great babysitter, a spoiled baby brother, a good listener, and never shy about speaking his mind. He had a knack for giving out unforgettable nicknames like Baby Girl, Champ, Juice, Big Momma, Cow, Kebin, Bam Bam, and Mad Dog — a reflection of his playful spirit and deep affection for those around him.

Don was preceded in death by his father Elijah Wilkerson Sr., his mother Doris Wilkerson, and his brother Julian B. Wilkerson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Julian Wilkerson and Don Wilkerson Jr.; a host of grandchildren; his siblings Trudy Washington (Gordon), Elijah Wilkerson Jr. (Dorthy), and Connie Radiop; and his extended family Matthew, Pam, and Brenda Shuler. He also leaves behind a loving circle of nieces and nephews: Roderick Wilkerson (Amani), Felesia Gathers (Anthony), Brian Duncan Sr., Wendell Standard, Maurice Allen, Anthony Allen, Nikita Holley, Elijah Wilkerson III (Felane), Alica Ogbonna (Peter), Candance Davidson (John), and Steven Wilkerson; as well as great-nieces and great-nephews Zahki (Shi/Nori), Quran, Kyle, Devron, DeAndre (Baby Dre), Angelique, Kevin, Brian Jr., Aiden, and Briana.
