Antonio “Eddie” Gonzalez, 90, of Long Branch, NJ passed away at his home in Long Branch, on December 13, 2022. Eddie was born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, on September 2, 1932, to Zeneido Torrez and Claudina Gonzalez.
Eddie married the former Pura Cruz in 1972, and together they had three children, Antonia, Zeneido, and Eddie. He was a grandfather to Lashae, Tyler, Tyrae, Eddie Jr., and Antonia and a Great Grandfather to Antonio and Ronin. Eddie was a loving brother to siblings and family in Connecticut, and Puerto Rico. Eddie deeply loved his family and adored being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Those who knew him the best knew his passion for his family and children.
Eddie worked as a truck driver for Guttenplan’s Bakery for over 40 years, delivering high-quality baked goods throughout the state. Throughout his 40 years on the road running his delivery routes, his family lovingly called him the “Original, Old School GPS.”
Eddie had a deep passion for gardening. He could cultivate and grow any vegetable in his home garden that he would spend hours tending to when in season. Eddie also had a passion for growing beautiful flowers that he would freely cut and share with anyone that wanted them. Eddie was also passionate about home-growing chickens and raising game birds for decades between the 60s and 90s.
