Dorothy Serentus Alston, affectionately known as "Dot" 89 of Neptune, NJ passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2021, with her family by her side.  Born to the late John and Everdeen Manning, she was the fifth of seven children.  Dot was educated in the Long Branch School System.  In 1955, she met the love of her life Robert Alston, they married in New York then settled in Neptune, NJ.  To their union they had three children Janet, Sonny and Kimberly.  Being a military wife brought many challenges for Dot when duty called for overseas assignments.  But Dot some how could always find time for her many hobbies.

She loved crocheting and doing puzzles, but if you knew anything about her, you knew that she loved to dance.  Usually at any gathering she was the first on the floor.  She enjoyed life to the fullest.  Entertaining was her joy as well and for many years, up until she could no longer do it.  She sponsored the family New Year's Eve parties.  Dot was employed at Artlin Mills after which she later pursued a career as a Nurses Aid that took her into her retirement after 29 years.

Dot was predeceased by her parents John and Everdeen Manning, daughter Janet Medley, sisters Mary Wesley, Esther Taylor, Pauline Mason, Sadie Brown and her brother James Manning.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years Robert "Bob" Alston; son Sonny Alston (Cat); daughter Kimberly Fairley (Jimmy); sister Thelma Taylor; grandchildren Rober Schenck, Teresa Wilson, Toni Diggs, Janet Schenck, Tiesha Brown, Shawn Brown, Reginald Taylor, Ryan Taylor, D' Jay Dawson; special nephew Olen Gillespie and special niece Margaret Walker as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She will be terribly missed.
