Inez Byrd went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 2, 2022. Inez was born May 22, 1927 in Wewahitchka, Florida to her parents Willie C. and Johnnie Mae Byrd, who preceded her in death.
Inez loved singing praises and glorifying the Lord. She was a member of Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church for more than 60 years. She was the oldest member and mother of her church. She served on the Board of Stewart’s for 40 years and she was a member of Sojourner Missionary Society.
Inez is well known by friends as “Mother Theresa” because of her interest in helping so many people. She loved cooking and feeding people. Her peach cobbler was a favorite with many of her friends.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Willie C. Byrd Long Branch, NJ, James A. Byrd New York, NY, Theodore R. Byrd Fresno, CA, Carlos L. Carter Washington, D.C., Joyce Grissett Long Branch, NJ, Mary G. Reddon Landham, MD, Marion “Moon” C. Byrd Long Branch, NJ and Shirley L. Byrd, Wewahitchka, FL.
Inez leaves to mourn, her sisters Dorothy E. Holmes, Blounstown, FL, Jean C. Byrd “It is finished” Tampa, FL and her last surviving brother Terry Byrd (Lady Byrd), Clearwater, FL; her Long Branch area friends and surrogate families many of whom she referred to as her sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters.
