INTERMENT
Private

Mary Shaw, who left us peacefully on February 23, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on June 26, 1943, in Matawan, NJ, Mary was the beloved twin daughter of a large family. She was one of ten children, with an additional four children from her father’s side, growing up surrounded by love, support, and cherished memories.

Mary made her home in Long Branch, NJ, where she lived for many years. A devoted mother, grandmother, and godmother, she treasured her family above all. Her love for her two sons, as well as her grandchildren and godchildren, was immeasurable, and she always placed family at the center of her heart. Known for her nurturing spirit, she earned the affectionate nickname "Big Ma" from those who were fortunate to know her. A woman of deep faith, Mary found joy in praising God at church at Refreshing Springs Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, a tradition that was central to her life. She worked as a housekeeper in Long Branch for many years, dedicating herself to her work and to those around her with a spirit of care and kindness.

Mary will be remembered as a loving and devoted matriarch, whose gentle nature and loving heart touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents and siblings John Jones, David Jones, Clifford Jones Jr., Albert Jones, Ester Jones, Barbara Steward, Hazel Fender, Elizabeth Jones, Bea Jones and Hazel Jones.

Mary is survived by her twin Martha Williams of Perth Amboy, NJ and Joanne Jones of Long Branch, NJ; as well as her three sons, her beloved grandchildren, and godchildren. Her family takes comfort knowing that she is now at peace, in the presence of her Lord.
