~ June 9, 2021
Modestine was born on July 4, 1944 in Gold Point, North Carolina to the late Henry and Louise Jenkins. Modestine moved to Long Branch, New Jersey in 1963 to start a new life.
Modestine was determined to provide for her young son. She performed many jobs, hair stylist, JJ New Berry's and teller at the Eatontown Bank. She finally settled into the job that didn't offer a monetary salary, but bought her great joy. She became the voice of the community for anyone that needed guidance. You could find her in her office any day of the week at the McDonald's in her neighborhood.
Modestine was preceded in death by her three sisters Annie Lee, Julia Latham and Mildred Wilson; three brothers Turner Jenkins, Jesse Jenkins and Columbus Jenkins.
Modestine leaves to cherish her memory Theodore (Teddy) Jackson, her loving companion, one son Edward Jenkins (Sandra), a bonus son Demetrius Harding; two grandchildren Jamil Jenkins and Gabriel Jenkins; one sister Velma Little and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
