Ovester Pruitt, Jr., was born October 22, 1959, in Fort Monmouth, NJ to the late Ovester Pruitt, Sr. and the late Rheather Pruitt. O.V., as he was affectionally known as, departed this life on Friday, June 9, 2023.
Ovester was raised in Eatontown, NJ, where he attended Monmouth Regional high school. He met his high school sweetheart/wife Barbara Anderson in 1978. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1980 to 1984. Following military service he became a resident of Long Branch, NJ until his departure. Through his union with Barbara, they had 3 children. He held various positions of employment throughout his life at Long Branch Public Schools, Sodexo, Frank Palone campaigns, and lastly retiring from the Ocean Place Resort& Spa in 2020.
O.V. was known for his delicious homemade cakes that he made with passion and care. His passion for baking led to a business idea he created with his children and niece, Tyeshia Anderson, called “The Three Musketeers”. He had unconditional love for his family. Ovester was baptized in Highlands, NJ in 2002 under the leadership of Pastor Marti McGrail of New Life Christian church, in which he was a member.
He is predeceased by his parents, Ovester and Rheather Pruitt, Sr., his two sisters Brenda and Yolanda Pruitt, and his brother Daryll Pruitt.
He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Barbara Pruitt; two daughters, Natasha Secka (Jim) of Frederick, MD, Jameka Pruitt of Frederick, MD, and a son, Ovester Pruitt, III (Juanita) of Howell, NJ; six grandchildren Mia Pruitt, Jamir Pruitt, Sean Glasgow, Jamiya Pruitt, Willow Pruitt-Starks, and Horaja Secka; brother in-laws, Kenneth Anderson (Pamela), Jerome Anderson (Stephanie); sister in-laws, Ethel Pearl Anderson (Milton), Lezelia Anderson (Jimmy), Delone Anderson, Jessie Anderson and a host of other relatives and friends.
