Richard Nelson Edwards Sr. "Pop" closed his eyes on August 29, 2020 at 2:35 PM. Richard was born October 6, 1944 to the late Doc Edwards Sr. and Anna Lou Stokes in Matawan, NJ and was the youngest of 8 siblings.
Richard attended the Matawan Aberdeen Regional School system and was a Longtime presser by profession as well as a Horticulturist. Richard worked for Irish Cleaners in downtown Matawan where he was a lifetime native as well as other local dry cleaners where he assisted them when needed.
Richard was predeceased by his parents Doc Edwards Sr. and Anna Lou Stokes, four sisters (Mickey Mott, Tilley Bryant, Clara Watson and Kathy Ann Rice); three brothers (Ruben, Doc Jr. and Harold Edwards) and one daughter Deidre Edwards "Shelly."
He leaves to mourn his children Richard Edwards Jr., Rochette Scott, Leslie Edwards and Eric Jackson which whom he and Kathy Jackson share 16 grandchildren, and over 30 great-grandchildren.
His compassion for mankind was evidenced by his devotion to his family and friends and he will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
