Richard Tyrone Tyler of Freehold, NJ was born to Willow and Richard on February 21, 1954. He was raised by his maternal grandparents Hattie and Willie Tyler. Richard departed this life on July 18, 2022 at home.
Richard attended the Freehold School System and excelled at sports. To this day, he still holds the title for leading scorer in basketball in the school system and he accomplished this achievement in 3 years. Richard attended Kean University and also played on the basketball team.
Richard was employed at All Jersey Janitorial Services as district supervisor for many, many years and he was also a successful entrepreneur. He enjoyed quiet time, music and spoiling his grandchildren. On any given day you could find him in his man cave watching tv and listening to music.
Richard was a family man. He took great pride in providing for his family and was a dedicated husband and father.
He was predeceased by his brother Edward "Champ" Tyler.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Barbara Tyler; his children Richard Smith of Moorefield, WV, Roderick Smith, Deirder Smith and Shawnequa Kirckpatrick of Freehold, NJ; his granddaughters Destini and Nevaeh Smith of Moorefield, WV; sisters Mildred Mitchell and Jessie Mae Tucker of Freehold, NJ, Caroly Funches of Chester, PA, Stacey Tyler of Hartford, CT; brothers Willie Tyler and James Brown of Freehold, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
