Ruthie Mae Richardson was born in Hardaway, Alabama on June 25, 1932, to the Late Annie M. and Tommy L. Richardson. She was educated in the Hardaway Alabama School System. Ruthie moved to Perth Amboy, NJ in the early 1950's. She fell in love and married Charles Neriah Richardson on August 2, 1952. Ruthie was employed by Westinghouse, Sunshine Biscuits, Perth Amboy Public School System as a Lunch Aide, NJ Department of Labor, and then retired from the Perth Amboy Board of Education as a Teacher’s Aide.

Ruthie was a member of St. James AME Zion Church where she sung with the Gospel Choir and was a member of the Conference Workers. She also assisted with the Nutrition Ministry, and the Youth Choir for several years. Ruthie was Honored with the Pastor's Choice Phenomenal Women Award.

Ruthie was known for her girlish high pitch laugh and beautiful smile. She loved to dance with her husband Charles at every Social Event they attended. Ruthie enjoyed gardening and planting flowers and in her free time doing word searches.  Ruthie was a great listener to those who wanted to sit down and vent.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her husband Charles Neriah Richardson, granddaughter Divine Miracle Davis, two sisters Josie Richardson and Sadie Clark; nine brothers Arthur, Henry, Elijah, Tommy Lee, Alphonso and Samuel Richardson, Eddy Dean Taylor, Jesse Cowen, and John Bell.

On Tuesday January 17, 2023, after a short illness, Ruthie completed her Mission and Purpose on this earth. She is now at Peace and in the Loving Arms of God.
