SERVICE DETAILS
Sandra Simmons was born to the late Donnie & Chattie Mae Alston in Carthage, NC and moved to Asbury Park, NJ in 1958. Attended the Asbury Park school system. Married her late husband Alton Simmons October 14,1961. She gave birth to her only daughter, the late Alicia Spraulding in 1962, then her only son William "Bobby" Simmons was born in 1964. She went on to work at Signalite, Neptune, NJ then later at A.E.L. at Allaire airport where she was an electronic assembler. Sandra got injured in 1983 and was no longer a part of the work force and became a full time homemaker. She loved cooking, shopping and decorating homes. She helped several decorate their homes with her flare of design which she acquired from attending Ethan Allen school of Design in 1976. She enjoyed decorating her home for every holiday and occasion. Celebrating those times while entertaining her family and friends where she applied her cooking skills. She loved having family and friend gatherings at her home and fed everyone. Always volunteered to cook, whenever asked, for every kind of event. She also loved shopping, which she did often, not just for herself, for many friends and family members. She loved the Lord and would share spiritual quotes and verses with friends and family. She will be missed and fondly remembered by those that loved her.
Sandra transitioned peacefully on January 17, 2026 at Jersey Shore Hospital, Neptune, NJ after a long term illness. She had 4 siblings that predeceased her, Jessie Williams, Henry Alston, Almeta Alston-Simms, and Warren Alston. Sandra is survived by her only son William "Bobby" Simmons Winston-Salem, NC; sister Virginia Hostler Powder Springs, GA; 4 grandchildren Gary, Isaire Michaud, & Alandre Spraulding Neptune, NJ, Dyon Simmons Conyers, GA; 8 great grandchildren Zariah, Masyn, Zyemira, Zhuri, Ishanie, Arrianna, Aiden and Kaison; God daughter Michele Hostler, Cheron Alston her niece that cared for her the last years of her life; and a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends she loved.
