Sarah "Singie" Flowers, 91, of Long Branch, NJ died on Friday, January 4, 2019. Sarah was born May 14, 1927 in Eatontown, NJ to William and Virginia Towler.
As a child, she and her family moved to Long Branch where she lived the rest of her life.
Sarah attended Long Branch Public Schools. She was employed at the Post Exchange on Fort Monmouth and retired after more than 30 years of service. She returned to the workforce, retiring from Kmart. She was married to Robert Flowers until his death in 1997.
For many years Sarah was active at the Long Branch Senior Center where she enjoyed volunteer work and performing the "Electric Slide" to the delight of audiences at local nursing homes and schools. Singie loved her family very much. She especially enjoyed attending performances of the Alvin Ailey Dance Company and live concerts of various musical genres. Among her favorite performers were Johnny Mathis, Lionel Richie and Dave Koz. She will be remembered for her delicious cooking, her generosity and her frankness. Sarah will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Flowers, her parents William and Virginia Towler, her brothers, William, Gary, Marvin, Robert and David Towler and her sisters, Wilma Sims, Barbara Curry, Virginia Reeves and Jean Hughes.
Surviving are sisters-in-law, Mary, Alma and Phyllis Towler and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
