Tanyin Alisa Slocum (known as Yinny) was born on August 14, 1961, in Matawan, NJ to her late mother and father {Lolita Slocum-Holmes} and {Kenneth Slocum}. Tanyin departed this life on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Monmouth Medical Center in Lakewood, NJ.

Tanyin grew up in Matawan, NJ in a household with 6 sisters (Lolita Tanay Newbey, Tarra Lynn Slocum-Holmes-Torres, Tia Slocum-Holmes, Toisan Holmes, Sandra Wright Holmes, Dolores Jones, and in loving memory of her brother Mark Slocum-Holmes). She attended Matawan elementary school, followed by Lloyd Road Middle School. than off to Matawan high school. where she graduated with a high school diploma in 1979.

She began to start her journey of life by attending Brookdale Community College where she got a certificate for medical billing and coding, followed by Devry University for engineering and computers. Tanyin's first job was working as a teacher for special education children. Afterwards, she began to get a job at standard Keil hardware store in Allenwood, NJ, which she transferred to working as a mechanic to become a manager at Freeman's Bakery Shop in Red Bank, NJ.

Tanyin was best known for her cooking. She loved to do puzzles and play scrabble. Her smile and laughter brightened any room she walked in.

She leaves for us to cherish her sweet memories with her five beloved children (Lionel e. Petersen, Tanyin l. Petersen, Kenneth R.R Petersen, Jahmar t. Corbin followed by the youngest Talaya s. Corbin. As well as 19 grandchildren (Isunnaya, Tisiyah, Tyshirah, Dashir, Tanyiah, Tanell, Kaiden, Sahmad, Taryiah, Tyana, Javon, Davin, Jaiden, Kenny JR., Kavon, Kyree, Skyleah, Xavier, and Greyson. Along with five great grandchildren (Nova, Je'siyah, De'andre, Triniyah) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
