INTERMENT
Private

Walter Lewis Underwood was born on October 14th, 1951, in Autaugaville, Alabama to the late Wilburt and Lottie Mae Underwood. Two years after his birth, the family relocated to Cliffwood, New Jersey.

Walter attended the Matawan/ Aberdeen public school system, graduating from Matawan High School in June of 1970. Upon completion of high school, Walter enlisted in the United States Army, where he spent most of his time in Germany. After returning home from serving in the military, Walter held various occupations which included employment with the United States Postal Service, carpentry and maintenance. Walt was a " jack of all trades". If you needed any project completed "Walt was the man," always ready and willing to get the job done and to lend a helping hand.

"Frog," as he was known to many, loved spending time with his family, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. Walter loved his family and expressed his love in many ways. Among his other past-times were watching movies, reading a good book, listening to and singing oldies but goodies and babysitting his great- niece Essence.

Walter gained his wings on Sunday, September 24th, 2023.

He is predeceased by his loving parents Wilbert Underwood Sr., Lottie Mae Underwood, his beloved sister Hazel Marie Underwood-Holmes and brother Mitchell Underwood.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories one son: Calvin Cheatum and wife Audrey Keansburg, NJ; two daughters: Tiki Whatley and TeShemma Underwood both of Keansburg, NJ; ten grandchildren: Chanel Black, Kayla Cheatum, Joshua Cheatum, Khalil Underwood, Khadijah Whatley, Nykira Whatley, Anijah Marcus, Aaliyah Coleman, Kiarah Drakeford, Gavin Drakeford; Three Great Grandchildren: Averi, Evan and Levi.
