It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Abelardo “Abel” Samol, who passed away on July 16, 2026, at the age of 49.

Born on March 11, 1977, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, to Jose and Juana Samol, Abel spent his early childhood on the island before his family made Long Branch, New Jersey, their home. There, he built a life filled with lasting friendships, cherished memories, and a deep love for his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Abel will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering loyalty. He was someone family and friends could always count on, never hesitating to offer a helping hand, words of encouragement, or simply his time. He was thoughtful, compassionate, and had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and understood.

Abel’s life reflected the words of 2 Corinthians 9:7: “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” He gave freely of his time, kindness, and love, always willing to help others without expecting anything in return.

One of Abel’s greatest gifts was his sense of humor. Even during life’s most difficult moments, he had a way of making people laugh and bringing light into every room. He forgave easily, never held grudges, and believed that relationships were far more important than disagreements. His laughter was contagious, his smile unforgettable, and his presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.

Abel was a devoted son, loving brother, proud uncle, cherished nephew, cousin, and loyal friend. His love for his family was evident in the way he showed up for them with compassion, wisdom, and an open heart.

The family would also like to recognize two people who stood faithfully by Abel throughout his life. His lifelong friend, Sammy Stevens (“True”), and his cousin, Eduardo “Puly” Gonzalez, remained by his side through many of life’s joys and challenges. Their friendship, loyalty, and unwavering support mean more to our family than words can express, and we will always be grateful for the love and care they showed him.

Although our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing that Abel’s legacy of kindness, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love will continue to live on through everyone whose life he touched.

Abel is survived by his parents, Jose and Juana Samol; his sisters, Madelyn Samol Diaz and Marisol Samol; his brothers, Jose and George Samol; his niece, Danay Samol; his nephews, Bobby Rivera, Ryan Samol, and William Blair; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
