Alma L. Howard, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at the age of 89.

Born on May 16, 1935, Alma lived a life marked by resilience, warmth, and quiet joys. She had a deep love for word search puzzles, the game show Jeopardy!, and the timeless wit of The Golden Girls—simple pleasures that brought her happiness and peace. She opened her home to family and friends and always had a warm meal to share with those that came to visit.

Alma was a devoted mother to her children: the late Wahneta Reeves, James (Pete) Reeves, Marjorie Lane, the late Debra Lane, the late Rodney Lane, the late Connie Lane, Mark Lane, and Catherine (Tilly) Lane. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jerald Lane, Jahiz Patterson, Tiwauna Lane, Daphne Lane, Rhiannon Reeves, Jasmine Lane, Tyrone Folkes, and Sade Harrell.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Harry and Anna Bland, and siblings: Melvin Bland, Harry “Buddy” Bland, Norma Howard, Wilbur “Tiny” Bland, Sam Bland, Oscar Bland, Doug Bland, and Rita Bland.

In addition to her children, she leaves to mourn in her passing her beloved siblings: Mae Jane Alexander, Harold Bland, Shater Bland, and Anna Bland, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will remember her with love and gratitude.

Alma will be remembered for her sharp mind, enduring strength, and the love she poured into her family. Her presence brought comfort and laughter, and her memory will remain a guiding light for all who knew and loved her.

Alma was a longtime companion to the Scudder family and they loved each other mutually as family.
