Andrew “Andy” Bellamy was born on July 15, 1951, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, to the late Lionel Abraham Bellamy and Margie Odessa Williams Bellamy. On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Andrew peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at the age of 75, in the comfort of his Cliffwood home, surrounded by the love and presence of his family and loved ones.
Andy received his early education through the Matawan School System where he played basketball and ran cross country. Upon graduation, he continued his education at Brookdale Community College, where he studied Accounting. After attending Brookdale, Andrew worked for a short time at Midland Glass Company before beginning what would become a long and rewarding career with Bristol-Myers Squibb in New Brunswick.
During his years at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Andrew became a skilled mechanic. Always willing to expand his knowledge, he was afforded the opportunity to further his education at Middlesex County College, where he earned a degree in Millwright studies. Andrew devoted approximately 45 years of dedicated service to Bristol-Myers Squibb before retiring in 2018.
Andrew’s spiritual foundation was established early in life as a member of St. Mark’s A.M.E. Church in Cliffwood, New Jersey. In the final chapter of his earthly journey, his faith remained important. On Tuesday, August 4, and again on Friday, August 7, 2026, Andrew rededicated his life to Christ, reaffirming his faith and commitment to the Lord. His family takes comfort in knowing that he made this personal declaration of faith before his transition.
In 1971, Andrew met and began dating the lady who would become the love of his life, Jennifer Jones. Their love grew, and on August 25, 1973, Andrew and Jennifer were united in marriage. For 53 years, they shared a life built upon love, friendship, family, laughter, and devotion. Together, they raised their beloved son, Darren L. “D. Bells” Bellamy, who brought tremendous pride and joy to his father’s life.
Andy knew how to enjoy life. In his younger years, he enjoyed softball and bowling and competed in several leagues. A true “numbers man,” Andy had a special love for Sudoku. He became quite proficient at solving the challenging puzzles and continued working them even throughout his illness—a testament to the sharp mind and determination that remained a part of him.
And if you knew Andy, you knew about his Philadelphia Eagles. He was a die-hard Eagles fan through the wins, the losses, and everything in between. One of the joys he was blessed to experience was seeing his beloved Eagles become Super Bowl Champions in 2025.
Andy also loved to cook and was well known for his backyard family barbecues. For him, good food was even better when surrounded by the people he loved. Those gatherings became opportunities for family, fellowship, storytelling, and, of course, plenty of laughter. Laughter was never far away when Andy was around. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit, often delivering a comeback at just the right moment that would leave everyone laughing.
Andy loved being outdoors, and it was not unusual to find him outside his home waving to those who passed by. A simple wave from Andy could quickly turn into someone stopping to talk, laugh, and catch up. He enjoyed people, and people enjoyed him. His warm smile, jokes, quick comebacks, and comedic conversations became part of the personality that made him unmistakably Andy.
Throughout his life, Andrew was blessed with friendships that stood the test of time. Among his lifelong friends were Tommy Blanford, Camille Carter, and Joseph Gregory, whose friendship and companionship remained an important part of his journey.
On September 7, 2022, Andrew’s life took an unexpected turn when he suffered a stroke. From that time forward, his devoted wife, Jennifer, and son, Darren, lovingly adjusted their daily lives and activities to ensure that Andrew received the personal, one-on-one care, comfort, and attention he needed. Together, they remained steadfast by his side throughout his journey, making his well-being a priority and surrounding him with unwavering love and devotion. They were faithfully assisted by Andrew’s brother, Michael, whose continued presence and support provided an additional source of strength and care. Their collective devotion allowed Andrew to remain surrounded by the people he loved and, ultimately, in the comfort of his own home until his peaceful transition.
Andrew was preceded in death by his loving parents, Lionel Abraham Bellamy and Margie Odessa Williams Bellamy; his brothers, Ralph Bellamy, Frankie Bellamy, and Freddie Bellamy; and his sister-in-law, Doris Lumzy Bellamy.
Andrew leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 53 years, Jennifer Bellamy, and his beloved son, Darren L. “D. Bells” Bellamy, both of Cliffwood, NJ; his brothers, John L. Bellamy of Aberdeen, NJ, Stephen L. Bellamy of Cameron, NC, Lionel Bellamy (Brenda) of Keyport, NJ, and Michael Bellamy (Crystal) of Aberdeen, NJ; his goddaughter, Kendra DeJesus (Eric), and her daughters, Amaya and Aliya; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and many others whose lives were touched by his love, laughter, and friendship.
Although his earthly presence will be deeply missed, the life Andrew lived will continue to speak through those who loved him. His family and friends will remember his jokes, his smile, his quick wit, his love of conversation, and the warmth he brought into their lives.
Andrew “Andy” Bellamy lived, he loved, he laughed, and he left memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
