Brett Juan Mackason, affectionately known as “Big Brett,” was born on July 7, 1970, to Elisse Michelle Mackason. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on October 3, 2026.

Brett attended the Long Branch Public School System, where he graduated in 1988. He continued his education at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey. Throughout his working years, Brett was employed at Ocean Place Hilton and Laurel Bay Rehabilitation Center.

Fall was one of Brett’s favorite times of the year. He loved football and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan!

Brett was a man of few words, but his great sense of humor spoke volumes. He had a unique way of bringing laughter and warmth to those around him. Affectionately known as Big Brett, he was a loving family man who took tremendous pride in his children and grandchildren. His family was a source of great joy, and the love he shared with them will forever remain in their hearts.

Brett was predeceased by his beloved mother, Elisse Michelle Mackason.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving wife of 26 years, Michele Searight Mackason; his children, Kyle Taylor, Nate’Kavon Farrow, Dominique Searight, David Searight, Andrae Searight, Brett Mackason, and Audrey Elisse Mackason; and his nine beloved grandchildren, Alani, Alana, Daila, Davian, Kevin, Navon, Ayaire,Tiger, and Brent Malcolm.

He also leaves his loving sister, Kerine Mackason; his niece, Tatiana Corbett; his cousins, who were more like brothers to him, Darien Cleveland and Shawn Ricks; his mother-in-love, Audrey Jackson; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

Brett’s life was a testament to the importance of family, love, laughter, and the bonds that connect us. Though his presence will be eternally missed, the memories he created, the humor he shared, the love he gave, and the legacy he leaves behind will continue to live on through the generations to come.
