Samuel Nathaniel Wall passed away on June 20, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, on December 26, 1939, Samuel graduated from Long Branch Senior High School in 1957, where he participated in track, soccer, and cross country. At 17 years old, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, beginning a lifelong dedication to military service and aviation.
Samuel served as a jet aircraft mechanic in the Marine Corps, attained the rank of Corporal, earned the Good Conduct Medal, and served overseas before his honorable discharge in 1963. He later continued his commitment to military service in the United States Naval Reserve.
Following his military service, Samuel built a long career in aviation with Pan American World Airways, United Airlines, and the Federal Aviation Administration before retiring in 2006. He earned FAA certifications as an airframe and powerplant mechanic and as a flight engineer, obtained his private pilot's license, and was later recognized by the United States Department of Transportation with a 50-Year Service Award for his lifelong contributions to aviation.
Samuel was known for his intelligence, resourcefulness, and strong work ethic. He enjoyed understanding how things worked and took pride in his technical skills.
Samuel is survived by his children, John Wall, Samuel Wall, David Wall, and Alyssa Wall; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister Audrey; his brother Christopher; and many extended family members and friends.
He will be remembered by those who knew him.
