Sharon Grace Boone (80) of Neptune, NJ, returned to glory Friday, May 23, 2025, at Tribute at Black Hill Assisted Living in Germantown, Maryland of natural causes.  Sharon was born on August 29, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Sterling and Marjorie Meyers.

Sharon grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended Xavier Preparatory School.  Following her high school graduation, Sharon worked at the Naval Shipyard, soon meeting her husband, Roland Boone. After moving to the Jersey Shore with her family, Sharon later attended Brookdale Community College. Sharon retired from Bell Laboratories out of Holmdel, New Jersey, after 25 years of dedicated service.

Sharon and her family attended St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Asbury Park, NJ.  Throughout her life, Sharon proudly wore many hats; she was a Life Member of the American Legion Post 266, Neptune, NJ and served as the Women’s Auxiliary President, Monmouth County President (1997-1999), Past Chaplain, Chapeau. Along with the American Legion, Sharon was a 36-year partner of the 8 and 40 Department of New Jersey – La Boutique des Huit Chapeaux et Quarante Femmes. Sharon served on almost all salon and departmental offices and committee chairmanships over the years. Sharon was active and especially proud to serve as the state La Chapeau for the year 2010 to 2011. She was a member of the VFW Post 2639, and an Associate of the Blue Star Mothers of America.

Lovingly known as “Mother Neptune,” Sharon was a dedicated mother who selflessly volunteered 15 years to the Neptune Pop Warner organization as the Flag Twirling coach. Sharon was also very instrumental in the conception of the Asbury United Organization. Sharon was admired by many for her authenticity; she was a great friend and a beloved mother figure and mentor to so many over the 50+ years within the Neptune and Asbury Park community who graced her home, 714 Shell Place.  She was a staple in the community, leaving a legacy of love and service that will be sorely missed.

Sharon is predeceased by her husband Roland of 43 years, and her sister Mary Beth Jones of East Orange, NJ.

Sharon is survived by sisters Kathleen Barrow, and Deborah Grant both of New Orleans; sons Glenn (FL), and Darren (NJ); daughters Angele (MD), Michelle and Renee of New Jersey; daughter-in-law Dawn; sons-in-law Nick, and Dennis; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 7 nieces; 3 nephews; 7 great-nieces; 5 great nephews; 3 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; 2 cousins; very special friends: Joyce Bradley, Diane Hancock, Beverley Holland, Carol Lundy, Denise Martin, Verita Hill, and a host of other friends and extended family.

Ms. Boone was a positive influence and a warm and caring woman to me and all she graced with her presence. Deepest sympathy to her family. May she rest in paradise.

  2. Aunt Mimi says:

I was heartbroken to hear about the passing of your beloved mother, Teeny. Please accept my deepest sympathy during this profoundly difficult time. Although words can never truly ease the pain of such a loss, I hope you find some comfort in knowing how deeply she was loved and how many lives she touched. Teeny’s warmth, kindness, and spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her — and I know how much she meant to you.
In the midst of your grief, I hope you can find peace in the promise of Scripture:
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
    — Revelation 21:4

Teeny is now free from all suffering and pain, embraced in perfect peace and love. I pray that this truth brings you some comfort in the days ahead. Please know that I’m here for you — whether you need someone to talk to or sit in silence with. I love you all.
