Annie Mae Parrish was born in Fairfax, South Carolina on January 13, 1939, to the late Reather and James Hosendove, Sr.  On March 6, 2023, at the age of 84, Annie went on to be with the Lord peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Annie was an avid reader and enjoyed learning in an array of subjects from standard education, biblical, and nutrition which she loved sharing with everyone.  Annie received her GED in 1974 from Asbury Park adult learning center. She graduated from Brookdale Community where she obtained her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree in 1983. To be of encouragement to her daughter Jennifer, she went back to night school with her and in 1986 they received their high school diploma from Neptune High School.

Annie had an extensive career in the healthcare industry.   Her career spans over 47 years of caring and loving the many patients and families she encountered. She retired from Jersey Shore Medical Center as a Nurse after 30 plus years of service at the age of 65. She continued her nursing career post-retirement, specializing in the Dialysis Treatment centers.  She was the epitome of a Nurse, praying and attending to their medical needs while providing them with her strong faith in God.  The word says that without faith it is impossible to please God, Hebrew 11:6.

Annie, affectionately known as “Mother Parrish” a faithful member & leader at Triumphant Life Church she was ordained as a Minister on Nov 30, 2014, under the leadership of her eldest grandchild Pastor Lyddale Akins.   Mother was the Minister who led the outreach ministry at TLC “Church Without Walls”.  She would visit households, Senior complex and nursing homes severing hot meals and spreading the gospel & her love for the Lord.  Mother Parrish worked with and mentored a team of people such as Karen Walsh, Sabrina Slaughter and Pam World, just to name a few, who grew in God’s word and grace through her support, friendship, and example.

Mother Parrish also was a Chaplin at Hackensack Meridian Health, where she will go weekly to pray for the sick & shut-in also providing communion.   This FAITHFUL servant never missed the opportunity to share her testimony to clinicians and patients of her being a 4X cancer survivor. Her faith in God and his ability to heal and cure was immeasurable. While most of the world was shut down due to the COVID -19 pandemic, Mother continued her ministry of outreach via telephone from the list of patients provided from the Chaplin’s office and sending birthday card to those in nursing home facilities to ensure God’s touch to so many, as she lived Matthew 28:19-20.

She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, James Hosendove, Jr., Eddie Hosendove, Sr., Frank Hosendove, and her loving husband John L. Parrish.

This great Matriarch of four generations leaves to cherish her memories and to carry on her legacy: 6 children; Carol Hosendove  (James) Florida, Elaine Akins, Neptune, Pamela Jenkins (Fred) Neptune, Herman Akins (Sophia) California, Jennifer Rice Neptune, Ulysses Jay Akins (Cheryl) Georgia, and God-Daughter Dawn Bowles-Fitch(Darren) Neptune, 30 great- Grandchildren, 19 grandchildren, a sister-in-LOVE Lorrie Hosendove (Frank), a host of nieces, nephews, friends and her “Golden Girls”, Pastor Betty Jones and Mother Jean Savage.

To the family of Annie Parrish,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Miss Annie. She was a woman of quiet grace and strength. Losing a loved on is difficult and changes us in so many ways. To that end I am praying that the peace of the Lord will cover and protect you in the days, weeks and months to come. I am praying for you and will do what I can to help.

    To Pamela, Jennifer & Families,
My prayers are with you in the loss of your beloved mother . Your beautiful mom greeted me with such warmth and love . I can still feel her hug. When all is said and done, may you find yourselves rejoicing in the bountiful blessings of God’s eternal love thru your beloved mother .

  3. Tia Boynton says:

Mother Parrish (Miss Annie Mae) was a true neighborhood Mom. She worked hard and provided for her family. She was a wonderful (beautiful, loyal, helpful, true, etc) friend to my Mom. Most of all, she was a true general in the army of the LORD. Rest in Paradise…we will meet again in Glory. Sincere condolences to the family. 🙏🏾🙏🏾💕💕
