SERVICE DETAILS
Bernice M. Bass was born November 22, 1935 to the late Nathaniel and Bertha E. Cooper. Bernice attended Mt. Sinai Elementary School, Murfreesboro Jr. High and graduated from C. S. Brown High School in 1954. She moved to Long Branch, NJ in 1954.
Bernice was married to the late Junius E. Bass Jr. for 49½ years. Of this union 4 children were born: Denise Anne (deceased), Junius (Patricia) Bass III of Ocean Township, NJ, Erica (Jerome) Hicks of Raeford, NC and Allen Bass of St. Louis, MO.
Bernice worked as an Activity Director in a health care facility. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, puzzles and cooking. She belonged to Mt. Sinai Missionary Circle.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children along with five grandchildren: Benjamin and Austin Bass, Kiah (Montal) Hemby, Andrea (Terry) Williams and Kaishon Steverson-Bass; three great-grandchildren: Jacob Bass (Benjamin) and Madison and Kelsea Hemby (Kiah). She is also survived by two brothers James and Wilbur (Ruthie) Cooper, Como, NC; four sisters Priscilla Epps, Como, NC, Linda (Henry) Carter, Anderson, SC, Mary Davis, Murfreesboro, NC and Brenda (Ernest) Knight, Franklin, VA; one aunt Margaret Batton and a host of nieces and nephews.
So sorry for your loss. So much of family has passed. We will miss her too. Glad we got to see her in North Carolina when we did.
