Brenda Lynn Matthews-Davis, 56, affectionately known as "Bootley," passed away peacefully in her home on July 27, 2019. She was born on February 10, 1963 to the late Bobby & Brenda Matthews. She spent her early years in Atlantic Highlands and later resided in Fair Haven until she graduated from Red Bank Regional High School.
Upon marrying her late husband, Michael Davis Sr., they moved to Long Branch and started raising their family. Brenda spent several years in the market research field (which she loved) and also worked in the cosmetology profession with her sister Robin. Her final years were spent in Belmar, NJ. Brenda's spirit and memory will live on through her children and grandchildren.
Brenda was a social butterfly and never met a stranger. She had a genuinely caring spirit and would give anyone the shirt off her back. She enjoyed spending her time with family and friends, valuing the memories made with her grandchildren the most. Anyone that knew Brenda can tell you that she liked to hang out at the beach, work on her crafts, her Jerry Springer and watching the I.D. channel.
Cherishing her memory are her three brothers: Kenneth Matthews Sr. (Peggy), Emmitt Matthews Sr. (April) Seattle, WA, Jonathan Matthews (Tara); three sisters: Robin Davis (Marty), Darnell Matthews and Denise Bedtelyon (Raymond); four children: Tamar Matthews (Warner Robins, GA), Angela Davis (Myeson), Michael Davis Jr. and Parrish Jones; four grandchildren Isaiah, Ajahnay, Angela (Nanny's girl) and Seven (Yum Yum); her significant other: Munsurah Kahmanzii and three grand dogs; a host of aunts, uncles, cousin, nieces and nephews and a community of friends and neighbors.
