Brenda Walker-3-2-2024

Brenda Joyce Walker departed this life with grace and peace at home on February 19, 2024, surrounded by loved ones and family.

Brenda was born in Cottondale, FL to Andrew and Mary Thompson. She grew up in Morganville, NJ and graduated from Howell High School in 1968. Brenda was affectionately known as “Mom” or “Grandma” to everyone. She was known as “A Jack of All Trades.” She knew a little about a lot and she was known for being able to do it all. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do or quickly learn. She graduated from cosmetology school in 1981. In her earlier days, she was a model. She was an avid reader; she could knit and crochet and fix mostly anything with no direction. She loved to dance and have a good time with her family.

For many years Brenda worked as an Executive Secretary for the Lakewood Board of Education. For the past 16 years she worked as a Principal Library Assistant for the Ocean County Library where she was affectionately known as “Ms. Brenda.” She was in a group at work called “Moon Ladies” that would text alerts to each other about beautiful moons. Brenda always made it known how much she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Brenda was a very strong woman; but anyone that knows her knows she was also a selfless giver. She never wanted to see anyone in trouble or struggling with anything.

Brenda is predeceased by her parents Andrew and Mary, her son Anthony, and her siblings George, Glenda, and Rhonda.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memories her siblings Andrew Jr., Gene, Kenneth, Gregory, John, Linda, Mona Lisa, and Patricia; her grandchildren Shakira, Anthony Jr, Shavonne, Amir, Amare, and Aidyn; her aunt Mildred, uncles Moses and Ervin as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-grandchildren, and close friends that will miss her dearly.
