INTERMENT
Private

Carlton Duval Davis, 56, transitioned peacefully on February 9, 2024, at JSUMC in Neptune, NJ, surrounded by family.

Carlton was born on October 7, 1967, and was raised in Asbury Park, NJ, He was a lifelong resident of the Jersey Shore area. He attended Asbury Park Public Schools and received his high school diploma in 1986. After H.S., he attended Brookdale Community College and DeVry University, where he received a BS degree in Information Technology Networking.

Carlton completed an apprenticeship with Knuckles Electric Co. as a teenager; this was the beginning of his professional training as a licensed electrician. He was always a naturally gifted person. As a child, he was interested in and drawn towards all things electrical. He was often found as a young boy listening to music and experimenting with the mechanisms of sound. He would dismantle a radio, shoe box, batteries, and wires and build a speaker from them. It was never a surprise to his family that their clock, radio, speakers, hair dryer, or any other electrical items would be dismantled by his curiosity to create something ingenious. From that point on, his future was etched in stone. No one's electronics were safe around him. Carlton was a "genius" in his own right. He had a heart for people and the ability to do great things in this world.

He worked for many years as an electrician, then transitioned into Informational Technology after completing college. Carlton obtained a cyber security certification and became an instructor in the field. He was an entrepreneur and had ties to many organizations over the years through his entrepreneurial ventures. He started CD Productions while in high school. He worked for AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Knuckles Electric, to name a few. His latest employment was as a subcontractor with various companies and government agencies in NY, NJ, PA, MD, and Virginia. He also worked on a contract in Louisiana during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Carlton was baptized in the mid-70's and was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church as a young child. He later joined Living Word Christian Fellowship in the late 90's and was an active member until his transition. Carlton loved God, his Church, his Family and his Friends. He served his church and his community with his gifts and talents in many ways over the years. He will be missed by many but never forgotten.

How many people can say they’ve met a "Living Genius?"

Carlton was predeceased by his father, Willie Davis Jr. He leaves to mourn his mother, Mrs. Ethel M. Davis; 5 sisters, Jaqueline Key, Lora Key, Carolyn Davis-Cottle, Deirdre Davis, and Karla Davis; 5 nieces, 2 nephews, 7 great-nephews, and 2 great-nieces; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Special Friends: Lenny (Angela) Shand, Gary Sumner, Anita Pierce, Deacon Butch Webner, and Pastors Cedric and Kim Miller.

Carlton had a special affinity for his nephews, Kahlil Platts, Nicholas Stephens, Jayden Dean and his church family.
