Charles Scott Nelson III, 53 of Long Branch, NJ went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in Los Angeles, California. Charles was born in Long Branch on June 4, 1966 to Charles and Vivian Nelson. As a youth he was a great athlete and excelled in baseball as a pitcher and in basketball as a guard. Later in life, he became a businessman and entrepreneur. As a businessman, Charles found a way to give back to his community by employing friends, housing the less fortunate and helping anyone he would meet. He had a big heart and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Charles is preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Ruth Nelson of Long Branch, NJ; his father Charles Nelson Jr. of Long Branch, NJ; one aunt Barbra and Fred Conway and one uncle Joseph Grasso of Highlands, NJ.
Charles is survived by his mother Vivian Nelson of Long Branch, NJ; one brother Brian Nelson Sr. of Orlando, FL; three aunts Corrine Grasso of Eatontown, NJ, Phyllis and Excel Crank of Plainfield, NJ, Diane and Roland Kelly Jr. of Atlanta, GA; one uncle Bernard Nelson of Los Angeles, CA; one niece Isabella Charlie Nelson of Toms River, NJ and one nephew Brian Keith Nelson Jr. of Orlando, FL; as well as numerous cousins and great cousins.
Scotty was saddened to hear about your passing. You will be greatly missed by many. Forever in my heart for the help and guidance you gave me during Hurricane Sandy. Gone but never forgotten RIP my friend
