Dorothy Louise Hairston, 89, beloved wife, mother and grandmother departed this life on January 24, 2021 at home in Long Branch, NJ.  Dorothy was born August 14, 1931 in Yale, Virginia to Herman and Mabel Spencer.

Dorothy worked as a Private Duty Nurse around the shore area for many years.  She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was once a worthy matron, assuming duties in the absence of the presiding officer.  Dorothy was active in the VFW, Cobra One motorcycle club, American Legion and the "Red Hat Mamas."

Dorothy met and married Albert Hairston Jr. on September 8, 1952.  They were married for 69 years.  Anyone who knew Dorothy knew she had a zest for life.  She loved to play the lotto and was a world traveler travelling to Hawaii, Germany, France and Guam just to name a few.  She loved to joke that she was "sixteen" all her life.  Dorothy especially loved and adored her son Albert, making sure he was spoiled in every way possible.

Dorothy is now in the glory of all the loved ones who preceded her in death including her parents Herman and Mabel Spencer, 2 sisters Lucretia Richardson and Geraldine Sanders, 3 brothers Walter, Floyd and Sedlo Spencer.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories her beloved husband Albert Hairston Jr., son Albert Hairston III, a sister Shirley Mitchell, 7 grandchildren Shanique Hairston, Corey Owens, Lavaughn Ricks, Devanee Hairston, Albert Hairston IV, Andrew and Armond Williams as well as a host of wonderful friends she loved.
