In her early years Liz attended the Craven County School District in Havelock, North Carolina. She gave her life to Christ at an early age. After her graduation from school, she made her way to New Jersey.

She met and married John Anderson in February 1963, from this union there were two sons, Lavance Anderson, and Terry Anderson.

She joined the Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1968 under the Reverend Frank Williams. Liz served in leadership as the Local Missionary President, Area Chairperson, and the New Brunswick District Lay President.

Liz was a dedicated servant; she began working at the church as administrative assistant under Reverend Howard Grant. Liz remained faithful to her position and was the right hand to Revered Donald Brown, Reverend Charles Smith, Reverend Norwood Cuff, the Late Reverend Philip Wilson, and Reverend Dr. Lesly Devereaux.

Always willing to offer help, she worked as the overseer for the weekly food distribution for the community. She was always willing to help people in the church and community. People relied on Liz for rides to the doctors or errands to the grocery store. She even cooked meals for members of the church who were sick and shut in.
