Elsa Blue, 88 of Neptune, NJ passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, July 29, 2023. She was surrounded by love, family, and her birds.

To others she was also known as Elsie and Oma. Born in East Prussia, Germany on March 8, 1935, Elsa began her journey of life.

Elsa was known to have a deep affection for nature. She was an avid bird watcher and animal advocate. She belonged to the Audubon society for many years. She gave generously to organizations, such as, her church, National Geographic, National wildlife federation, disabled veterans of America, planned parenthood, and many more.

She was usually found in the garden or kitchen cooking some of her famous recipes. Her food was always made with love, and she would be the last to eat to ensure everyone got enough. Elsie made many trips with Donald Sr. to bird watch, cross-country ski, and sightsee. She enjoyed working in photography as well.

While in Germany she spent her time ice skating on the lakes surrounded by the Alps.  She eventually left at a young age to America and stayed for the rest of her life.

She is preceded by her parents Paul and Elsa Arendt, as well as her siblings Paul, Horst, Clara, and Otto Arendt.

She is survived by her husband Donald Blue Sr., children Donald Blue Jr. & Christa Blue, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

“Cardinals appear when angels are near.”

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to be made to the Audubon Society in honor of Elsa.

  1. Patty Scianimanico says:

    Donald and Christa,
Thinking of the Blue family throughout this difficult journey. The few times we meet your parents were delightful and memorable. We just lost our mother earlier this year. We know that grief comes in waves. A mother’s love is eternal. Hold on to that infinite love and let it be your guiding light. We are praying for your peace and comfort.
May you look back on the precious memories and find peace in knowing that your Mother raised 2 very amazing people.
    God Bless,
    Patty Scianimanico and Eric Hagerman
