Frances V. Fisher, affectionately known as “Fran” or “Aunt Frances,” born on June 9th, 1945, in Washington, Pennsylvania to the late Robert W. and Addie (Meriweather) Johnson, transitioned to her place of eternal rest on Christmas (December 25th), 2024.

At an early age, Frances relocated to New Jersey where she and her brother, Robert W. “Peewee,” were raised by their aunt and uncle, Jessie and John Johnson.

Frances attended the Neptune School System where she graduated in 1964.

She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Garrison L. Fisher on January 20, 1968, and to this union were born four amazing children: Terry D., Taunya R., Maurice L., and Nicole D.

Frances held several positions over the course of her employment history including, W. T. Grants, Jody’s Fishery, Vet’s Cab, Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital and (Grand Union) Stop & Shop. She retired in 2000 and commenced enjoying retirement.

Frances was an avid reader who enjoyed shopping (especially with her bestie Bobbie), watching television, eating out and spending time with family and friends celebrating birthdays and holidays. Frances became known to her family as “Mrs. Claus” as Christmas was her favorite holiday.

Frances possessed an incredibly gentle spirit, whose every moment was intrinsically beautiful. She could make everyone she met love her and feel befriended. Her smile created a radiant glow.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Addie Johnson, Jessie & John Johnson; her husband Garrison L. Fisher and her sisters Berkie L. Younger and Dr. Marilyn Banks.

She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish precious memories her children; Terry, Maurice (Recie), Taunya and Nicole, her brother, Charles  Hammond Jr. (Augusta, Ga.), sister, Johnnie O. Johnson (Washington, DC), niece/daughter, Thomasina (Micah) Savage (Manchester, NJ), sister-n-law, Ella Mae Fisher, best friend of over 50 years, Barbara Jackson (Whiting, NJ) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

  1. Mary Strother-Lively says:

I met Frances in the 1960s and she was a nice beautiful meek girl I never say her angry or heard her say an unkind word she was like an Angel to me and when she married Gary I was so happy for her and I was thinking “good things come to good people” I am glad I had the privilege to talk to her before she died while she was in the hospital and when I found out she had passed I felt that God has gained another Angel…..

Frances’ life has come to go, Now that God has beckoned her so, The doors of Heaven have opened wide, to let her through to pass inside……Frances will be sorely missed by everyone that knew her including me
