OBITUARY
SERVICE DETAILS
Our beloved Joseph Richard Daniels, age 80, son of the late Joseph Daniel and Harriett Pendleton Daniels was called home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. He was known to his family and friends as Richie and the medicine man. Born and raised in East Orange, NJ, Richie graduated from East Orange High to then attended Howard University in Washington, DC. There he earned his Bachelor of Science degree as well as his Masters degree in Pharmaceutical services. He was also licensed by the state of New Jersey Board of Pharmacy.
Richie worked for Ethical Drugs in East Orange for some time before opening his own pharmacy store known as Chase Drugs, also in East Orange. He then later moved to Atlantic Highlands/Navesink, NJ where he continued to work as a pharmacist with CVS pharmacy. He retired approximately 7 years ago.
Richie’s life was all about service to his fellow man and his family. He was a member of Masonic District of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge. He was the Past Worshipful Master of Tyre Lodge #29, a member of The Princess Chapter #53 Order of The Eastern Stars as well as Golconda Temple #24. He along with best friends Raymond Agee and Harold Craft (both of Red Bank, NJ), were the founders of The Loose Connection winery. He was very generous and caring. He devoted his time fishing, making wine and spending time with his family and service to various organizations over the years unconditionally.
Richie is survived by his loving children Randy Daniels of Long Branch, NJ, Shannon Pitts of Long Branch, NJ, Tracey Cansler of Eatontown, NJ; his grandchildren Kayla Colon, Asbury, NJ, Christan Colon of Long Branch, NJ, Joseph Daniels of Long Branch, NJ, Crystal Cansler of Eatontown, NJ, Calvon Simmons of Eatontown, NJ, Princedavid of Long Branch, NJ; cousins Dean and Clinton Majors, cousin Gwendolyn Glinton and family, Jan Hartsfield and family; 2 sisters-in-law Barbara Shaw and Judy Pitts; dear friend Tavia Newell and family; his Masonic and Eastern Star family and a whole host of other family and friends.
