Mary Powell was born in Red Bank, NJ October 4, 1938 to the late Deacon and Deaconess Louis and Emma Sheard.  She departed this life on Wednesday March 13, 2019 at Madison Center, Matawan, NJ.

Mary married Roderick Myers in 1959 and from this union they had two children, Sheri Lynn Myers and Randolph Myers.  Mary married the late John L. Powell in 1988.  She attended Calvary Baptist Church, joining at an early age, until her death.  She served as an Usher, Sunday school teacher, willing worker and a senior advisor.

Mary attended Red Bank public schools graduating from Red Bank High in 1957.  She worked for MCEOC for over 30 years as a social worker.  She retired in 1989 and continued to work in the community helping seniors and mentoring children.  She was well known for her kindness and making the best potato salad in the family.

Mary was predeceased by five brothers Howard Sr., Benjamin Sr., Robert, Nathan and Jeffrey S. Sheard; three sisters Dorothy Fairley, Susan Valentine and Diane Johnson and one grandson Michael Myers.

Mary is survived by her two children Sheri Lynn and Randolph (Sharon) Myers; two sisters Ollie Sheard Davis and Elaine Johnson both of Red Bank; two brother-in-laws Deacon Fred Johnson of Red Bank and James (Edith) Powell of Neptune; one sister-in-law Angela Sheard; five grandchildren Renee Myers (Eddie Brown Jr.) Florida; Gregory Neal Jr. Keyport; Randolph Jr., Sharanda and Rashad Myers all of Cliffwood; six great grandchildren Jah-Seir Davis, Eddie Brown III, Aniya Brown, Edejah Brown, Camen Brown and Aiden Neal; step-daughter Karen (Rev. Darryl) Dunn and step-son Ronald Powell; two special sons Troy and Mark Friday and a special niece Patricia Jackson and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
