SERVICE DETAILS
It is with heavy hearts and tremendous sadness that The Thornton Family announces the passing of Milford Lowell Thornton Jr. on Tuesday, December 1, 2021, at Jersey Shore Hospital. Milford was born on October 1, 1955, in Long Branch, NJ to Milford and Louise Thornton. Milford attended Monmouth University graduating with a BS in Business Administration concentrating in Marketing, he was the Inspector for the Long Branch Sewerage Authority for over 17 years.
Milford loved his family immensely he celebrated every single moment he could for every single one of us from the smallest to the greatest. He surrounded us with his love, and always loved to share precious memories he was our historian. We were important to him, and he made sure we all knew it! He was a listening ear, a cheerleader. He was kind, genuine and selfless. Milford was available for everyone, new and old friends. Mil had a daily group of loved ones he would send a good morning and a good night text to, that gave him great joy! He had a keen sense of humor, he enjoyed our funny family moments, he loved to tease! Milford loved his Lakers and The Kansas City Chiefs and His History channel which he watched even if it was repeat! He loved the Food Channel always wanting to try new recipes!
Mil was a man of great faith, and he became a baptized Jehovah’s Witness, June 22, 1991, and this began his over 30 years walk of faith with Jehovah. Milford joyfully served in three congregations – Bradley Beach, NJ, Neptune East, and Neptune West, NJ. He made many close friends through this walk with Jehovah. Milford loved God’s word and he knew his bible and if you quoted a scripture, he could usually tell you exactly where it was in the bible. Milford loved to preach about Jehovah, and he loved to comment at his weekly meetings he loved making public declaration about his loving father Jehovah.
Milford was loved deeply and, he leaves behind to mourn his wife of 30 years Abbie. Their Son Kent, Daughter in law Federica, his Sister Lisa Thornton, his two grandchildren who were his treasure, and he loved and cherished them: Lorenzo and Lisa Thornton, His Uncle Reginald Thornton (Mildred) and His beloved Aunt Thalia Thornton and countless family and friends. Mil was predeceased, by his parents Milford and Louise Thornton
The empty space, which has been, left behind by Mil, in our family is as deep as his love for us. We will miss him terribly; we are grateful and thankful for the love of our sweet Mil. Milford believed in the resurrection that God’s word assures us of at John 5:28,29 and we can’t wait to see the fulfillment of God’s promise to see our Beloved, Beautiful, Sweet Mil again!
To the entire Thornton Family,
Milford “Bubba” Thornton’s smile could be seen a mile away and that was ALWAYS his personality! Another great guy ? God has decided to call home. Prays & condolences to you all! ?
Bubba contacted me about a year ago; after our not being in contact for way too long. He sent a “Good morning” and “Good night” text pretty much everyday since. Every Sunday, Coach Bubba and I would share our NFL picks for the week; on Bubba’s list, the Chiefs were always picked to win, of course. We last texted about having a family reunion there in NJ, hopefully sometime next year. I hope we still can have the reunion. Love to all of the family. Sincerely, Daphne Torrence
