One January 18, 2023, heaven opened its gates to receive Pastor Caroline Louise Bennett.

Pastor Bennett was born on December 1, 1942, to Juanita Bennett and Donald Newman in a family consisting of 12 siblings.  She was educated in the Long Branch school system. From childhood she was a member of McLaughlin Pentecostal Faith Church of Long Branch, NJ. During her 65 years of service to the church she served as Assistant Pastor to her predecessor Pastor Earl Langley and spent the last 20 years of her life as Pastor.

Pastor Bennett was a Community Leader. She provided food, housing, clothing, toys, council, and much more to the greater Long Branch community. She served as President of the Urban Ministerium and as a two-term member of the Long Branch Board of Education.

Every Sunday there was always a meal, and she was always just one phone call away.  She had a special love for children which is evident in the way that she doted on the children of her family and community. She visited the sick and their families daily. She actively helped people to better their lives and recognize that they were children of God.

Pastor Bennett had 3 children Ronald Bennett (Linda), Deborah Fitzpatrick and Marva “Betty” Fitzpatrick (predeceased).

She is predeceased by her parents Juanita Bennett and Donald Newman, Ernest Bennett, Marva “Betty” Fitzpatrick, Sam Mills Jr., Catherine Jones, Dorothy Bennett, and Ernestine Donald.

She leaves to morn her passing her children Ronald Bennett (Linda) and Deborah Fitzpatrick; 6 grandchildren Amanda Fitzpatrick, Latisha Foster, Ari Bennett, Lamar Bennett, Latrell Bennett and Ryan Bennett; 6 great-grandchildren Deja Fitzpatrick-Bell, Jade Bell, Amelia Williams, Avante Williams, Landon Williams and Zayden Williams; siblings Lillian Finley (Melvin), Mitchaleen Daniels (Clifford), Jean-Ann Mills, Wallace Shaw (Mary ), Raymond Bennett and Leon Mills; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

  1. Marilyn Hampton Brown says:

There is not one negative word that anyone can say about Elder Bennett. She was a true woman of God. She is one whose walk matched her talk. She is one who lived her entire earthly life in preparation for her eternal life. When I think of her, I’m reminded of the song that the song writer wrote….”When God calls me, I will answer. I’ll be somewhere listening for my name.” Elder Bennett simply heard her name and answered the call. May she Rest In eternal peace.

  2. Marie Seward says:

my prayers and condolences go out to the family of Caroline Bennett. she was a pillar in the community and everywhere else and will be greatly missed. She was always the same wherever you saw her. May she Rest in Paradise

  3. Craig Reeves says:

Even though you are gone away,
Your love will always be here to stay.
You touched our hearts with so many things.

God knew you were the one to save,
He took you home to get some rest,
Even though we loved you best.

Our hearts are filled with so much pain,
God loved you more, there was no shame.

At this time we must let go.
Your memories we will keep a flow.
Rest, our dear cousin, with peace of mind,
Your memories will live on through.
