INTERMENT
Private

Rianna Janai Coleman was born on October 13, 1996, and passed away unexpectedly on Sunday August 20th, 2023. She graduated from Toms River North High School in 2015 and worked for the city of Toms River as a Judicial Clerk for the past 5 years. Rianna gave her life to Christ and was a member of the Sixth Street Baptist Church where she served in the Sound Ministry, Voices of Praise, Garden of Praise, the drama ministry and had been assigned as the lead for the planning, organizing and execution of the church’s 2023 Family and Friends Day.

Rianna was a Dadtha’s (daddy’s) girl from day one and was known for her blunt sense of humor and outgoing nature. She also had the uncanny ability to retain information that surpassed that of the average person, and for knowing just the right songs to add to musical playlists for any occasion. Taking her role as big sister seriously, she was often seen as the Mother Hen, protecting her siblings at all costs, but allowing them to be themselves. As funny and as crazy as she could be, she never hesitated to step up to the plate when needed, even if she didn’t want to.  Anyone who knew Rianna knew that her love languages were acts of service and gift giving. This was exhibited even in death, by her desire to donate her organs so that others could live.

Rianna is preceded in death by John Kirton (maternal Grandfather), Jeffrey Coleman, Sr. (paternal Grandfather), Frances Coleman (paternal Grandmother), Charles Richards (Uncle), Forest Miller (Uncle/Godfather), Candace Coleman (Aunt), Steven Thomas (Cousin/Brother), Kirk Morton (Trouble Buddy), and Cetavia Mitter (Sister/Best Friend).

To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her maternal Grandmother Margaret (Machie) Philips-Kirton,  parents Jeffrey Coleman, Jr, Karen Kirton-Coleman, special/adopted mothers, Carletta Mitter, Natasha Ali, spiritual parents, Pastor Robert C. Morris and Cheryl Morris, siblings Jeffrey Coleman, III, Cihara Coleman, Kaaynan Coleman, Karina Coleman, Cybrina Coleman, special siblings, Ashaney Santos, Trishann Morgan, Jermaine Morris, Vern Saunders, Jordan Morris, aunts & uncles, Yvonne Richards-Thomas, Dexter Richards (Uncle/Godfather), Alvin Richards (Gail), René Clarck (Janneke VanBruggen), Gustave Clarck (Ava De Kleine), Innita Jones (Godmother), Jessio Miller (Aunt/Godmother), Youlanda Artis, Alcenia Coleman, Viola (Envelope)Bonner, special aunts and uncles, Roger Kirton, Charlene Jordan, Carolyn Johnson, Elaine Gates, a host of cousins across the US, Curaçao,  Holland, Canada, St. Maarten, Barbados, St. Vincent and friends across the globe.

  1. Karen Kirton-Coleman says:

    Ri. Riri. my girl,
You always said you couldn’t live without me, here we are to go on living without you. Never never, would have thought you would leave us that Sunday afternoon in August.
You were just talking to us, laughing with us and in a blink of an eye, you were gone.
    My heart hurts beyond words.
You were the first to make us parents, to make me a mom, your mom!!
I know you were only mine for a time known only to God.
I needed you but again, God needed you more.
I love you Ri and I pray I live by your example so I can one day see you again.

Rih! I’m glad the universe brought us together in the last few years. You’ve taught me some hidden lessons about life that’s making this transition of your life a bit easier. I know you’re partying it up there with your bestie, and I’m so so happy that you’re happy now. Hopefully you’ll continue to protect your family while being the renewed shining light you are 💙 I’ll miss you forever

  4. Rozalyn says:

    Hey Girl,
I know it’s been a while, but I remember those times when I was hanging out/goofing off with you and Cetavia like it was yesterday. I’ve known both of you separately for quite some time, but those brief moments when I saw the strength of your friendship really stood out to me. You showed everyone what it means to be a true friend and to truly ride for your loved ones. You always kept it real.
I’ve been thinking a lot about what happens when our energy leaves this earth, and while I don’t know much, I’m sure your bestie gave you the tightest hug as soon as she saw you. It’s absolutely devastating to have lost both of you so soon. Its so hard to accept. But when I think about endings, having a best friend to laugh with and love you during and in between lifetimes is the best ending I can come up with.
Keep an eye on everybody during these difficult times ❤️
